Hello everyone, hope the weather is not too hot for you!
“Loki’s Lures”
A poem I recently posted on my Facebook page (John Casson / Louis J Casson) to some minor controversy. One person thought it was directed at Donald Trump, while another thought it was about Barak Obama. Really?
The poem was written with the Norse god Loki in mind, but in a wider sense there are many in the world who get up to tricks and mischief played on others.
“Roses shining after rain”
A poem about loss and also hope following after. This is the original poem version from my collection “See you in the big time” (2011) that later became a song, working with Philip Walding my partner in the musical duo the Tanglewood Twins. Must locate the Mp3 of that track in my files…
“Grief and loss”
Another piece from “See you in the big time”. Self-explanatory.
Enjoy the sunshine. Till next time, take care.
Best wishes,
Louis
Loki’s lures
Mischief maker in chief
Setting his traps and snares.
A trickster, sending you to the wrong bar.
Locked and dark,
No friends there when you arrive.
Sending dreams to follow
Hollow in falsehood.
Dreams leading on to wasted years and sweat.
Phantom lights and dawns dispersed
By hard truth, leaving you spent and alone.
The master trickster smiles
His work yet to be complete and done.
Fools on the hook are netted and tallied, but…
More shoals that swim
More hooks to cast
More Loki’s lures to come.
Roses Shining After Rain
Roses shining after rain
And love will come again.
For after all the cost,
Some pain and some things lost.
Roses shining after rain.
Woke up on a Tuesday morning,
Through my window saw the skies.
Then recalled you’re gone and also too
Those hopes, sweet lover’s lies.
But it’s too late now I thought
As sleepy stumbling to the kitchen
For the past like clouds flows by
So I’ll ignore these old scars,
Or those memories that keep itching.
Roses shining after rain
And love will come again.
For after all the cost,
Some pain and some things lost.
Roses shining after rain.
Going through my daily routine
Cups o coffee, toast and ham n eggs.
The mechanics of my life, just seem to help
Give my empty living legs.
Till somebody new, on another day appears.
To blow these clouds away,
Gently healing, soothing fears.
Warming me with love, sunshine after tears
Roses shining after rain
And love will come again.
For after all the cost,
Some pain and some things lost.
Roses shining after rain.
Grief and Loss
When too much I’m silenced, into a dumb stillness deep.
Then I know you’ll simply put your arm around to hold me,
I feeling your warmth comforting.
And we’ll be just together, in that deep still place.
You will not speak.
Of better days to come,
How it could be worse,
Or any silver linings,
Any such repeated easy words.
Time later for any such.
Just holding,
Still and warm with you,
Is all for now.
